WEEK TWO NOTES

NE vs NYJ – The Jets sure can play defense. And as for New England, the dynasty is done. How long the rebuilding takes is anyone’s guess.

CAR VS ATL – Atlanta is a team to be reckoned with this year; and BC’s Matt Ryan is becoming a very good QB quickly. Carolina is still in trouble, but Jake Dehlomme’s demise might be a bit premature… Might be.

MIN VS DET – Detroit cannot finish games, and once the score goes south on them, the losing culture seems to take over. As for the Vikes, we won’t know anything until they play a real team. We do know Adrian Peterson is amazing.

CIN VS GB – Quite a conundrum. Hard to tell what this game means. Is Cin really a decent team, or did luck swing their way this week? And what of GB? Way too early to read the tea leaves here.

TEXANS VS TITANS – Matt Schaub got back on track, but the defense still leaks like a sinking ship. Tenn is now 0-2, yet no one seems to look Jeff Fisher’s way. How many more seasons will the ownership deal with what could have been?

OAK VS KC – Man both these teams stink. McFadden and Jamarcus Russell make up the all-bust backfield. KC is talent depleted, but might have a few more brains behind the scenes than Oakland – not that that says too much.

DAL VS NYG – The Giants defense is suspect, but Coughlin and crew know how to coach and game plan. On the other side Wade Phillips and Jason Garrett continue their inept run. Tony Romo is regressing, and this side of Detroit, Dallas may have the worst back defensive four in the game today. (Note to Jerry Jones – When you have the worst president in the history of America flip the coin at your game, it already starts out bad for you. I am surprised Bush was able to use his thumb and fingers at the same time. They must have coached him up on that. O well, at least they didn’t invite Cheney).

WASH VS STL – Another pairing of awful teams. Sly Dan Snyder will continue to prove he is the second worst owner in the league (sandwiched between Al Davis and Jerry Jones), by throwing gobs of cash at unworthy players. The Rams are just bad, but Steven Jackson can move the chains.

ARZ VS JAX – Don’t expect the Cardinals to rule the roost, but as the team gets healthier, so it seems does their confidence. Jacksonville is just another really bad team; and Tim Tebow is NOT the answer.

SEA VS SF – Mike Singletary likes this party, baby! His team is molding into his image – so NFC West teams look out. He might end up as coach of the year. As for Seattle, they are injured and dropping quickly. This is a team that needs a full overhaul.

BUF VS TB – RB Fred Jackson is quite a find for Buf, and MarShawn Lynch is going to have a task to get back on the field. I predicted TB to be the worst team by the end of the season. We will see if this staff can grow into the job.

CHI VS PIT – Chicago looked as good this week as they did bad last week. If Cutler is focused they will be a force. Pit is a good, but not great team, and they will have to improve on special teams to repeat as champs.

BAL VS SD – A preview of what could be the AFC title game. If SD wants to go to the big dance, they need to win these games. Rivers is heating up, and Sproles is the real thing even at five foot six. Baltimore still amazes me with its defensive excellence year after year.

DEN VS CLEV – I thought Eric Magnini was a genius? Didn’t he win three Superbowls in NY? O no, they slipped near the end and he was fired. As for Denver, this was an easy one, but they are in an easy division. 8-8 for the Broncos would be a success.
