Let’s Fantasize!

It is that time again friends – Fantasy Football Time! And your pal the Football Guy has been involved in this American Craze for over 20 seasons now. So let us not waste any time, let us get right down to it and talk some FF!

HERE ARE SOME OF FOOTBALL GUY’S BURNING QUESTIONS
THE QUARTERBACKS

IS TOM STILL TERRIFIC?

In 2007 Tom Brady had the greatest fantasy football season in the history of the game. Then in 2008 many owners thought they got lucky when they drafted him high in the first round. About eight minutes into the first game of last season… over. A devastating knee injury took Tom out for the season, destroying many owners’ hopes for FF success.

Now it is a year later and Tom is ready to go. There is no doubt he will be a fine QB, but will he return anywhere near to the form he had two seasons ago? How is he both physically and psychologically? Is he worth a high first round pick?

FB GUY’S ANSWER: The league now is all about passing. He might not throw 50 TDs ever again, but he is still in his prime.

CAN ROMO PRODUCE LATE IN SEASON?
Love or hate the Dallas Cowboys, Tony Romo delivers in the first ten games of the season with big numbers. Even without the team cancer known as TO, Romo has multiple weapons all over the field, and can make plays with both his legs and arm. He reads defenses well, (despite what some of the Giants will tell you), attacks zone defenses aggressively, and will kill you outside of the pocket.

But then comes the last 5-6 games, and let us face facts, Tony’s lack of elite conditioning starts to show. He wears down, cannot out run the pass rush and forces plays. But a good training camp can fix this.

What we don’t know, and cannot predict is, if Romo will ever be a money player when all the chips are down. He came apart last year in the last two, win and in, games of the season. He looked confused against the Ravens, shamefully closing out legendary Cowboy Stadium with a crushing loss, and looked like he was eagerly awaiting vacation in the last vital game of the season against the Eagles.

Is he the type of QB that can bring your team a title? – something he may never do for Dallas.
FB GUY’S ANSWER: Since most leagues only play 15 or 16 weeks of the season, Romo can deliver, especially early on. Just don’t tell him he is your starter in your league’s title game and he might just deliver you a victory. Is he a first round pick? Probably not.
